Dried oyster 蠔豉 200g

$42.99 $37.99 Sale

Hao Chi (蠔豉), dried oysters, 200g. Deeply savoury, concentrated and slightly sweet — dried oysters are a Chinese New Year staple, partly for the flavour and partly because the name sounds like 'good things'.

  • 200g of whole dried oysters
  • Intensely savoury and concentrated
  • A Chinese New Year tradition — the name is auspicious
  • Classic in poon choi, braises and congee
  • Rich in zinc and protein

Traditional use of Oysters

Dried seafood occupies a distinct place in Cantonese cooking, where drying is treated as a transformation rather than a preservation method — the dried oyster is its own ingredient, not a substitute for the fresh one.
